They used to contact me “Baby Sumo”!
I grew up with 5 older brothers and an older sister. They were almost all skinny, and I came out of the womb resembling a big, dimply potato. My brothers had been ruthless…I remember them saying, “Hey, fat child, get over here! ” They joked our mom must have had a fling using the mailman who kind of looked like Santa.

The nickname they set it up, “Baby Sumo”, dominated my childhood. The teasing was humiliating-it made me feel worthless and embarrassed of my body. I hated the way We looked…but it also made me super-motivated to do something to fix the issue.

I began working out within high school and competed in football, track, as well as martial arts. Later I added in acrobatics, tricks, and pro wrestling. I achieved good amounts of success in each sport, but I didn’t appear the way I wanted to. Basically, the less-than-impressive physique was the result of my genetic future: a “skinny-fat” guy. So what does which means that?

It means that when I had formed my clothes on, I looked like Required to gain some weight. When I took the shirt off, it looked like I needed to reduce some flab. Here I was doing all of this weight training-and I looked like I had never walked foot into a gym around me!

It didn’t help which i was eating nothing but processed junk food…
Just about then, my poor food choices began to meet up with me. You see, growing up within a house full of hungry kids and not much money in your pocket, I ate a lot of poor, unhealthy food-like gas station doughnuts for breakfast, processed “spaghetti-O’s” for lunch, and fast-food tacos or fried poultry for dinner.

So when I began going after my goal at the time of being a natural weight lifter (meaning without the use of performance-enhancing drugs), That i knew of I had to change my diet. Bulking stages left me fat, and competitive phases made me feel as if I was starving and missing a normal social living.

That’s when I decided to try consuming a low-carb diet. I filled up on meat, seafood, vegetables, fruits, and nuts -- and few if any carbs. For some time, I felt great. However then…

I lost muscle mass and returned to some flabby, skinny-fat body even with all that working out;
I caught every cold and flu virus which went around and was sick constantly;
My metabolism tanked, and that i couldn’t lose weight despite hardly eating any meals;
I had ZERO energy, had sleep problems, and could barely get by without a every day nap;
My mood changed from laid-back and pleased to constantly irritated and depressed;
And the most severe of the worst…my libido and sexual performance took the nosedive. That’s because my testosterone dropped to the degree of a 70-year-old man!

How the low-carb diet turned me into
a flabby, ill, exhausted mess!
So how is it this "healthy" eating approach made me worse off than previously, even with working out constantly? It’s because following a low-carb diet remaining my body starving for the one thing it required to help me look and feel great: CARBOHYDRATES!

That’s right, carbs! As well as I’m not talking about the carbs you get by consuming bunches of broccoli and bananas, although those great. I’m talking about good old-fashioned starchy carbohydrates, like white rice and potatoes!

Several types of carbs are BANNED when you’re of all popular low-carb diets. But if you’re exercising frequently - as little as 3 times a week - bodies are constantly in a pre-workout or post-workout condition. And that changes everything! Exactly how?

Exercise creates a unique metabolic environment which changes how your body processes nutrients for up to forty eight hours or more. In particular, strength training along with other intense exercise deplete muscle glycogen stores. This leads to your body to break down muscle for fuel should you be not feeding it what it requirements post-recovery.

That’s why you need to consume starchy carbs to:

Refuel energy supplies,
Build muscle,
Control insulin and glucose levels
Trigger serotonin release, as well as
Maximize fat-burning hormones, including testosterone and thyroid gland!
Even if you DON’T exercise, you'll still need to eat some carbs. That’s because so long as you’re not simply lying still on a couch all day, you’re probably moving around going about your own busy, day-to-day life. So if you do not refuel your body’s energy reserves with carbs, you’ll really feel dog-tired and run into some of the same “issues” I discovered myself facing on a no-carb diet.
